The Latta Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society collected 2,096 food items during their annual Carolina/Clemson canned food drive. The two homeroom classes that led the school in its giving were Mrs. Elizabeth Carmichael’s sixth grade class, and Mrs. Connie Lane’s eighth grade class. All of the canned goods have been donated to Dillon County Helping Hands, our local food pantry. These items will assist many needy families in our area during the upcoming Christmas season. This was a record-breaking year for the schools canned food drive! The teachers and staff are grateful for all of the hard work that our students exhibited during the week. The LMS National Junior Honor Society Advisers are Mrs. Charley McIntyre, Mrs. Mandy Vipperman, and Ms. Stephanie Weatherford. The final score was Carolina 1080 and Clemson 1016.
