The children of the late Harnethea B. Manning officially opened a cash scholarship fund in honor of her life at Marshill Bibleway Church of Dillon, where she was a life-long member. Her stand on the significance of education enabled her and her late husband, Paul Manning, to send their six children to college, enabling each of them to achieve several degrees. Paul and Harnethea loved school and wanted to go to school, but were unable to go any further than the fifth and sixth grade. They made it possible and sent their six children to college, and all six received degrees.
This scholarship will be offered to a high school senior at Marshill Bibleway Church for the same importance their parents placed on education. The applicant must be accepted to an accredited college/ school of higher learning, exemplify good Christian character, in church, the community, and who meets all of the necessary criteria.
We want to thank everyone who encouraged us, motivated us, taught us and who was able to contribute to the scholarship from near and far.
