You might want the Lottery’s latest Palmetto Cash 5 winner to buy your next ticket. To hear her tell it, she’s just plain lucky.
“I’m a winner,” she told lottery officials. “I might win $50 here or $500 there, then maybe another $100.”
This week she won $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5. She wasn’t even surprised though she doesn’t want to release her name.
“This is routine,” said her son. “She wins quite a bit.”
Lady Luck quick picked her Palmetto Cash 5 numbers for Tuesday’s drawing at Breakers #117 in Dillon. She matched all five numbers drawn (12, 16, 18, 32, and 38 Power-Up: 2) and added Power-Up for an extra $1 to see her $100,000 winnings doubled to $200,000.
“I just took a chance,” she said. “Sure this is the largest amount I’ve won playing the Lottery, but I want to see how it feels to be a millionaire.”
“Is this really the most you’ve won?” questioned her son.
She admits the amount is significant and is looking forward to experiencing life debt free.
“I don’t always expect to win,” she added. “I just play because it’s fun.”
Breakers #117 is making a case for itself as a lucky lottery destination.
In addition to selling this $200,000 winning ticket, the location recently sold a $200,000 scratch-off. The location received $2,000, a 1 percent retailer commission, when the Palmetto Cash 5 ticket was claimed.
Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
