Dillon’s Lady Wildcats claimed second place in Region 8-AA this week as they defeated Loris and Mullins but fell to number one ranked Waccamaw.

On Thursday, October 13, Dillon hosted Loris and swept the Lady Lions 3-0 with set scores of 25-13, 25-5, and 25-21.

Lillie Celmer led the Lady Wildcats with eight kills, one dig, and one block, with Zipporah Lighty adding six kills, six blocks, three digs, one assist, and one ace. Breana Park and Dezirae Wright added two kills and two digs each.

Rebecca Callahan made 16 assists, five digs, and one ace in the win, and Shayna Covington made 10 digs and one kill. Taylor Price made seven digs and one ace; Brandie Buckner made four aces and four digs; Darby Hamer made one kill, one dig, and one assist; Hannah McMillan made three digs; and Pam Robinson made two digs and one kill.

Callahan scored 19 service points in the win and Price scored six.

On Monday, October 17, the Lady Wildcats swept Mullins with scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-10.

Lighty led the charge with 11 kills and one block and Callahan made 14 assists and one ace. Celmer made three kills, one ace, and one block, and Covington made eight digs, one ace, one assist, and one kill.

Hamer made six digs and added two aces; Price made five aces and one dig; Hannah McMillan made four digs; Robinson made two digs and one kill; Leah McMillan made one dig; Dallas Rowell made one kill and one dig; Da’Kerhia Samuel made one kill; Holly Vaughn made two digs and an ace; and Wright made one dig.

Callahan scored 13 service points, with Price and Vaughn each scoring nine.

On Tuesday, Dillon hosted Waccamaw and fell to the Warriors in a hard fought 3-1 loss. Waccamaw started strong with a 25-18 finish in game one. Dillon rallied to claim the second set 24-26, but Waccamaw was back on top for the rest of the match, winning games three and four with scores of 25-18 and 25-23.

Lighty made 12 kills, eight digs, seven blocks, two aces, and one assist in the loss. Celmer and Robinson each made six kills, with Robinson making three digs, one block ,and one assist, and Celmer adding one dig, one block, and one ace. Hamer had five kills, with eight digs, one ace, and one assist.

Callahan made 19 assists and 10 digs for the Wildcats, and Covington made 16 digs. Hannah McMillan made four digs and three aces; Taylor Price made one ace; and Dallas Rowell made four digs, one assist, and one kill.

Hannah McMillan scored 12 service points with Callahan earning 10 and Price earning nine.

The week’s results leave the Lady Wildcats with an 8-2 record in Region 8-AA for a second place finish behind Waccamaw. Dillon’s overall record is 14-3.
