Funeral services for Lugenia Caldwell, 73, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon, SC with graveside services to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Caldwell was born October 14, 1938 in Dillon, SC and grew up as a member of the Dillon First Baptist Church. She went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2011. She is the daughter of the late William Jennings Bryan Elkins and Dora Elizabeth Elkins of Dillon.
Mrs. Caldwell is a retired Sr. Assistant Comptroller General for the State of South Carolina. Surviving are her son, Joseph Caldwell and her daughter, Cynthia C. Purves; grandchildren, Christiana, Alex and Sara; sister, Maxine B. Long; niece, Gwyn B. Finklea; sister-in-law, Betty Elkins of Hartsville and many other wonderful family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Caldwell and brother, William Winfred Elkins.
Mrs. Caldwell’s family finds comfort in knowing that her life is not over, but just beginning as she lives eternally with her heavenly Father.
