The Latta Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society collected a grand total of 2,516 food items during their annual Carolina/Clemson canned food drive, setting a new collection record.
The two homeroom classes that led the school in its giving were Mrs. Baxley’s sixth grade class, donating 546 items, and Mrs. Herring’s eighth grade class, donating 408 items. All of the canned goods have been delivered to Dillon County Helping Hands, our local food pantry.
These items will assist many needy families in our area during the upcoming Christmas season.
This was a record breaking year for the school’s canned food drive! The teachers and staff are grateful for all of the hard word that our students exhibited during the week.
The LMS National Junior Honor Society Advisers are Mrs. Mandy Vipperman, Ms. Stephanie Weatherford, and Mrs. Charley McIntyre.
