Vision Educational Center, community partners and supporters honored Mrs. Ruby Woods Carter with the MLK Lifetime Achievement Award on January 16th at their Martin Luther King Jr. birthday annual observance. Mrs. Carter was an educator for over 40 years. She is extensively involved in a range of religious, civic, and educational activities. She has served on numerous state and national boards and committees. She recently completed a six-year term as a member of the American Hospital Association Section for Long Term Care and Rehabilitation Committee. She is a member of the St. Stephens United Methodist Women. She has the United Methodist Women in various capacities at the state and regional level. Currently, she serves as a Communion Steward at St. Stephens and she also enjoys teaching an adult Sunday School class and attending Bible Study.
