On March 27, Nick Hammonds, Caroline Shelley, and Will Shelley, students at Dillon Christian School, shadowed medical professionals at McLeod Dillon. Nick spent time in Radiology where he learned about diagnostic testing. Caroline shadowed in the Emergency Department where she experienced the fast-paced setting of emergent care delivery.
Will shadowed in the Rehab Services Department, learning from members of the Physical Therapy team about their chosen profession and how they work closely with patients to get them back to their daily activities after an illness or accident.
“This was an opportunity for the students to see the type of work that is done within the hospital,” said Estelle Ellis, Patient Representative and Shadow Student Coordinator. “The program is designed for students that have expressed an interest in a healthcare career.”
