Veterans in the Dillon community can enroll in the VA health care system, receive health information, and find out about various services available to them through the Veterans Health Administration from representatives of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.
The center’s Rural Health Team will be set up at the City of Dillon Fire Department Public Conference Room, 209 South 8th Avenue, Dillon, on Tuesday, July 17 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
The team consists of a nurse educator who can provide materials and discuss such issues as diabetes management and tips on controlling hypertension and cholesterol levels. An eligibility and enrollment specialist will be on-hand to discuss VA health benefits and accept Veterans’ enrollments on the spot. Information about women’s health care and mental health programs for Veterans will also be available.
Anyone who served in the U.S. military is invited to attend the event. Veterans are highly encouraged to bring a copy of their DD Form 214 (discharge paperwork) and last year’s financial information to expedite enrollment in the system.
For more information, please contact the Fayetteville Veterans Medical Center Public Affairs Officer, Robin DeMark, at (910) 488-2120, ext. 5991 or contact Jerry Huggins, Veteran Service Officer, Dillon County, at e-mail jhugginscvao@ aol.com.
