COLUMBIA, SC – Johnnie Mae Hodges Butler, 83, died in the Lifecare Center in Columbia, SC, September 20, 2012.
Funeral services were held 4 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2012 in Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Kannaday Funeral Home.
Mrs. Butler was born March 20, 1929 in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late John Pritchard Hodges and Elise Gandy Hodges Jeffers. She was the widow of Joel Carmichael Butler.
She was a loving wife and mother and was affectionately known by many as Ms. Johnnie. She enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC, and a former member of the First Presbyerian Church in Dillon, SC. She was a former member of the Glove and Trowel Garden Club, St. Eugene Hospital Auxilliary, and Dillon Junior Charity League.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Butler (Timothy) Greer of Columbia, SC and her sister, Dorothy Chaloux of Florence, SC. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Webb Draper, and Edna Chandler.
