Services for Melvin Poston will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Dillon Second Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Visitation is 7-9 Tuesday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Poston, 86, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at his residence.
Born in Florence County, SC, April 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Grady Davis Poston and Lorena Pearl Eaddy Poston.  He was the widower of the late Helen Hughes Poston.   He was a retired textile worker and was a member of Dillon Second Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his sons, Donald D. Poston of Florence, Wayne A. Poston of Massachusetts, and Delton G. Poston of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Renee Poston, Little Don (Sandy) Poston, Deddi (Edward) West, Jason Hatley, and Kristin Leigh (Scott) Placey;  great grandchildren, Skylar Poston, Jessica Goyner, and James Goyner;  great great grandchild, Willow Placey; foster children, Angel Marie Ellerbe Goude, and Jamie; special friend, Dorothy Hayes.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Lou Ard, Dorothy Levell Nettles, Nellie Belle Cristafallie, Pearline Campbell; brother, Norval Poston; granddaughter, Fallon Poston; daughter-in-law, Faye Poston.
