LAKE VIEW- Don Garris, 50, of Lake View, SC died Thursday, December 20, 2012 in his home after an illness. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Bear Swamp Baptist Church of Lake View, with burial to follow at Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. Mr. Garris was born in Dillon County, the son of the late Lester Earl and Lois Smith Garris. He is a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a Nuclear Power Electrician from 1987 to 1993. He was a member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church. He was employed with McLeod Medical Center of Dillon as Director of Plant Operations. Don was known for his contagious laugh and light hearted spirit. He was loved and will be missed by many. Surviving Mr. Garris is his wife, Karen Hayes Garris; sons, Micheal Brooks Garris, Austin Douglas Lewis (Special Friends; Tara, Kelsie, and Kayden ) and Hunter Keith Lewis; brothers, Lester Ray Garris (Vickie), and Ronnie Garris: and sister, Lois Ann Miller (Wayne).
