Mrs. Annie Bethea Reaves, age 91, of Dillon passed away on Wedneday, January 16, 2013. She was born in Latta, SC on August 2, 1921, to John Franklin and Eugenie Smith Bethea.
Mrs. Reaves lived most of her life in Dillon where she was a valued member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. She loved flowers and was a member of Evergreen Garden Club for many years. She was an active participant in the school activities of her children, the ladies’ auxillaries of the Dillon Fire Department, the Dillon Rescue Squad, and the Altar Guild of her church.
Mrs. Reaves was predeceased by her husband, Marion L. Reaves, in 1976, after which she moved to Rock Hill, SC, where for 28 years she was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. When her health began to decline she moved once more to the Columbia area where her last years were spent near her son Tom Reaves and his wife, Jeanne; and her daughter, B.J. Cromer and her husband, Tom. She is also survived by five grand children and their families: Amanda Reaves Campbell and her husband, David, of Irmo; Tom Reaves, Jr., and his wife, Sara Beth of Kingsland, GA; Robert A. Foster of Chapin; Elizabeth Foster Alexander and her husband, Whit, of Greenville; and Thomas S. Cromer, Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Fountain Inn; and by thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
The family wishes to thank The Heritage at Lowman for their devotion and care of our mother for the past 6 1⁄2 years, especially Melanie, Ann, and Felicia. Also our thanks go to Lutheran Hospice, especially Paige and Angel.
Visitation will be at 1:00 on Saturday, January 19, in the chapel at Kannaday Funeral Home at 1252 Highway 57 South, Dillon, SC, with a funeral service at 2:00. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
