Dillon’s Lady Wildcats picked up a 54-26 win over the Loris Lions at home on Monday night.
The Lady Cats outscored Loris in every quarter, taking a 19-7 lead in the first and leading 30-11 at the half. Dillon put in 24 points in the second half against 15 from the Lions to claim the win.
Tyshanna Lester led Dillon with a game-high 16 points and seven steals. Yolanda Campbell picked up 12 rebounds and added 12 points for the Wildcats and Brianna Lee scored 11 points. Dakerhia Samuels added seven points in the win.
Lareba Jackson and Tonea Gill each scored six points to lead Loris.
The Lady Wildcats improve to 15-7 overall and remain tied with Mullins with an 8-1 record in Region 8-2A. The Lady Auctioneers defeated Aynor 60-20 in Mullins on Monday night to maintain the tie with Dillon.
In this week’s South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Class 2A poll, Dillon was ranked eighth in the state, with Mullins ranked third. Bishop England and Lake City topped the list in first and second.
The Wildcats were scheduled to wrap up the regular season at home on Wednesday night against Waccamaw, while Mullins was scheduled to travel to face Marion. If both teams won on Wednesday, Dillon and Mullins will have to face off in a tiebreaking game on Friday night at a neutral site. UPDATE: Dillon defeated Waccamaw 58-21 on Wednesday night and Mullins defeated Marion 56-28 to send Dillon and Mullins into a tiebreaker game for the Region 8-2A title on Friday in Loris.
