The Latta Vikings fell 74-60 to Region 8A leader Johnsonville on Tuesday night in Johnsonville.
Latta took a 23-20 lead in the first quarter, but Johnsonville responded with a 19-14 second to lead 39-37 at the half. The Flashes poured on the pressure in the third, outscoring Latta 22-11 to take a 61-48 lead into the fourth quarter, where they held off the Vikings 13-12 to seal the win.
Ken’Che Page scored a game-high 28 points to lead Latta with Tyrell Sabb adding 14 for the Vikings. Travise Kinney scored nine, Brandon Wilson earned four, and Jordan Smith added three, with Quane’ Williams scoring two.
Arkelious Williams led Johnsonville with 19 points and Cordea Wilson and Tately Anderson each added 14 with Shawn Lawrence and Josh Franklin each earning eight. Shaquille Crouch added six points for the Flashes and Tushai Edwards earned five points in the win.
Latta slips to 5-13 overall and 4-5 in Region 8A for fourth place, while Johnsonville improves to 15-2 overall and 9-0 in the region. The Flashes were ranked second in the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Class A poll this week, with Whale Branch in the top spot.
