The state basketball championships were played over the weekend at the Colonial Life Arena with new and returning champions crowned.
In boys Class A action, Lewisville defeated Whale Branch 64-54 for the state title, and in girls action, Hemingway defeated McCormick 61-38 for the Tigers’ first girls basketball title in 20 years.
In Class 2A, Keenan knocked off defending champ Bishop England 46-41 for the girls state title. In boys action, Lake Marion defeated Newberry 91-82 to claim the title.
In Class 3A, the Lower Richland girls overwhelmed Orangeburg-Wilkinson 57-35, while Hartsville won their second title in a row with a thrilling 65-62 overtime win over Eastside.
In 4A boys, Irmo defeated Goose Creek 65-46 for the state title, and Dutch Fork repeated as the girls champions with a 46-43 win over Dorman.
