FAIRMONT – Mr. John David (J.D.) Arnette, age 84, husband of Mrs. Dora Ivey Arnette, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Southeastern Health of Lumberton.
He was born on June 21, 1928 in Robeson County to the late Sam Arnette and the late Vivian Bass Arnette.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nichole Lee, and a sister, Burnelle Rogers.
Mr. Arnette is survived by his wife, Dora Ivey Arnette, of the home; his daughter, Anita Arnette Thompson and husband, Archie, of Fairmont; two brothers, Kelton Arnette, of Fairmont, and Bill Arnette, of Hamer, SC; one sister, Lucille Huggins, of Darlington, SC; two grandchildren, David Adams and wife, Kim, and Richie Adams and wife, Angie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation took place on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc. of Fairmont.
A funeral service was held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Oakdale Baptist Church, Fairmont, with Rev. Jackie Spillers officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memorial Cemetery of Fairmont.
