Eleven student athletes from Dillon Christian School competed in the Speed and Strength competitions held in Orangeburg on Saturday, April 27.

This is an annual SCISA event held at Orangeburg Prep. Divisions 1A and 2A competed together, and the Warriors not only won the division 1A and 2A state championship but could have taken out the 3A schools as well.

The competitions are based on weight lifting and endurance events and points are assessed in each event and weight class. Six Warriors won their weight divisions and the points accumulated by all eleven were the highest in the competition in all classes.

The team was made up of 11 athletes in 11 different weight classes. The team finished with five individual State Champions and one State Runner-Up. Those winning their weight classes were Ben Boykin, John Michael Price, Matthew Price, Luke Price, and Will Brown. Kelvin Stackhouse finished as runner-up in his class.

Samuel Brown placed the highest of all competitors in the vertical jump. John Michael Price was the only senior on the team.

Warrior Athletic Director Christian Wolfe and Phillip Price coached and trained the team. “It is exciting to see how hard work and dedication lead to success,” Coach Wolfe said.
