Billy Carter, 77, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at McLeod Medical Center-Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, SC, August 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Howard Carter and Shelby Williams Carter.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and retired from Wix.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shelby W. Carter of Dillon; children, Robert Howard (Alicia) Carter of Dillon, Ellen (Mitch) Carter of Prosperity, and Susan Carter of the home; grandchildren, Megan Carter, Kimberly Carter, Leigha Howard, Alex Lane, Mason Carter Lane; great-granddaughter, Chole Denae Carter; sister, Catheine (Jack) Moody of Fuquay Varina, NC; brother, David E. Carter, Sr. of California.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Daniels and Joan Rowell.
