Sadie Lucille Berry Easterling, 89, died at the Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, SC, Monday, June 10, 2013. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family will receive friends at Mrs. Easterling’s home at 218 Church St., Latta, SC 29565.
Mrs. Easterling was born November 7, 1923 in Latta, SC, the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Mary Flynn Hayes Berry. She was the widow of James Rupert Easterling. She worked for the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier for 25 years and was also employed by the Latta Bank and Trust for over 30 years. She was a member of Latta Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Easterling was also a member of the Dillon County Historical Society.
Mrs. Easterling is survived by a son, James Franklin Easterling (Cynthia) of Latta, SC; daughters, Gloria Ruth E. Winters (Glenn) of Newport News, VA and Mary Louise E. Power of Latta, SC; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Usher Crosland and Geneva B. Dees both of Latta, SC; and grandchildren, Monica Anne Easterling, Henry Franklin Easterling, Kathleen Winters, Leah Power, and Travis Power.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Latta Community Singers, c/o LRC, P.O. Box 803, Latta, SC 29565.
