Mrs. Mayo Humphrey Ford passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in her home, after an illness.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Lake View United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Lake View Perpetual Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Lake View United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ford was born in Dillon County, the daughter of the late John and Lou Ella Owens Humphrey. She was a member of Lake View United Methodist Church and past secretary of her Sunday School class. She was the owner of Ford’s Grocery until her retirement. She also was an avid gardener; she loved her flowers and was known to have a green thumb.
Surviving Mrs. Ford are her sons, Bobby Ford (Patricia) of Granite Falls, NC, and Jimmy Ford (Louise) of Lake View/Dillon, SC; daughter, Barbara Ford Thompson (Bill) of Hamlet, NC; special grandchildren, Linda (Renee) Ford Clemens, and Pam Gasque; special great grandchildren, Jamie Bowen, Katie Newell, Trey Newell, Oren Russell, and Jared Ivey; in all, she had 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her husband, Cortez Allen Ford, a son, Jason Cortez (JC) Ford, and a daughter, Linda Renee Ford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake View United Methodist Church and/or the Gideons.
