This year all South Carolina 7th graders are required to show proof of a Tdap shot to attend school.
Tdap is a booster vaccine that protects children from three dangerous diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough (also called pertussis). Rising seventh graders are required to have the new booster and to provide schools with an updated shot record showing the inoculation.
DHEC will be offering FREE Tdap shots during a special clinic on August 14, 2013 from 1:00 to 6:30 pm at the Dillon County Health Department. Dillon School District Four urges parents to take advantage of this free clinic offered by DHEC if their rising seventh grader has not had the vaccine.
Every 7th grader in Dillon District Four must present an updated South Carolina Certificate of Immunization to Dillon Middle School or Lake View High School as verification that the vaccine has been received. If proof of the vaccine is not presented, students have to be excluded from classes until the shot has been received.
