Recognitions were given and other action was taken at the September meeting of the Latta School Board.
Samuel Howell and Briana Williams were recognized for achieving a perfect score on the 2013 Palmetto Achievement Assessment of State Standards (PASS) test. Each student received a certificate for their accomplishment.
Kelly Sellers was recognized as Teacher of the Year for the district. Ms. Sellers will receive a $1,000 bonus from the state.
Representative Wayne George gave a legislative update.

• ACT Scores
Larry Legette gave an update on the school facilities.
Betty Jo Johnson was nominated by Kyle Berry to be the delegate to the South Carolina School Board Association’s 2013 Delegate Assembly held on December 7, 2013 in Hilton Head, SC. Motion was seconded by Kenneth Kitts and vote was unanimous.
Motion was made by Kyle Berry and seconded by Kenneth Kitts to accept first reading and waive second reading of the following policies:
• JFAB – Admission of Nonresident Students
• JLCEE – Concussions and Student Atheletes
• JLCEE-R – Concussions and Student Athletes
• JLCEE-E – Fact Sheet for Parents/Legal Guardians
• GCOA – Evaluation of Instructional Staff
• GBC – Staff Compensation
• GCB – Professional Staff Contracts and Compensation
• IHBB – Gifted and Talented Education
• IKF-R – Graduation Requirements
• JRA-A – Student Records
Vote was unanimous.
