The United Methodist Women at McCoy Chapel United Methodist Church held its annual Women’s Day Program recently. The theme was Today’s Challenge for Christian Women. Guest speaker was Evangelist Deborah Covington of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Bennettsville. Evangelist Covington’s subject was “Go and Tell.” It was a powerful and enjoyable message. Three individuals were recognized during the program: Annie Ruth Jackson was given a Special Recognition Award for reaching out to women and children and making a difference; Joe Milton Bethea was recognized for his unselfish love in reaching out to a youth in need; and Machale Bethea, son of Tony and Lamecisa Bethea was announced as the recipient of the annual scholarship given each year. Machale read a paper identifying his mom as the one who has been an inspiration to him. (Photos contributed by Miranda Manning)
