Cross Country State Championships were held on Saturday, November 9, with St. Joseph’s topping the competition in both the boys and girls divisions.
St. Joseph’s finished with a score of 42 to lead the boys and Christ Church took second with a 44. Greenville Tech Charter finished third with an 89; Greer Middle college was fourth with 105; and Brashier Middle rounded out the top five with a 118. The Governor’s School earned a 192; McBee, 400; Hannah-Pamplico, 407; and Carvers Bay, 422.
Latta finished with a 459, with Anthony McCall earning a time of 20:32; Sam Sellers, 21:05; Jordan Hayes, 22:32; Colby Scott, 23:20; and Luis Delaluz, 30:10.
In the girls division, St. Joseph’s finished with a 30 with Greer Middle College in second with a 52 and Southside Christian in third with a 53. Brashier Middle College finished with a 125 and Christ Church finished fifth with a 173. The Governor’s School earned a 204.
Latta finished with a score of 326 with Jessica Evans finishing at 23:50; Katie Williams, 26:41; Lilly Carter, 29:24; Lauren Benson, 32:11; and Jelesa Brown, 32:13.
In Class 2A boys, Academic Magnet took first place with a 38; Waccamaw, 78; Pelion, 139; Landrum, 140; and Bishop England, 158. Cheraw finished with a 226 and Marion scored 529.
The Class 2A girls were led by Landrum with a 56; Bishop England, 57; Pelion, 59; Waccamaw, 111; and Pendleton, 159. Chesterfield earned a 419 and Cheraw finished at 457.
In Class 3A, Hilton Head led the boys with a 45; Eastside, 81; Daniel, 111; Greenville, 156; and James Island, 205. Hilton Head also led the girls with a 50; Eastside, 116; Chapin, 138; James Island, 141; and Socastee, 186.
The top 15 individual finishers in each class also earned all-state honors.
