The Moscow Ballet presented “New Horizons—A Children’s Program For Life” for over 500 Latta school students from kindergarten through high school at the Ellis Performing Arts Center over two days recently.
Dance students participated in Master Classes led by Moscow Ballet soloist Svetlana Todinova in which she taught the Vaganova method of ballet and traditional Russian folk dancing. Lower level students worked with Svetlana on Russian language, interactive improvisations, and healthy guidelines to movement and nutrition for an active lifestyle.
Latta Middle School eighth grader Savannah Britt said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. “It was a wonderful experience having a talented ballerina from the Moscow Ballet come and perform in Latta. None of this would have been possible without the Ellis Performing Arts Center,” Britt said.
The program is a three-pronged cultural immersion program for children of all ages and interests that delivers a plan for physical, nutritional, and creative/emotional health for their use over a lifetime. The program provides cultural immersion, personal role modeling with a highly trained Russian dancer, and world class performance experience.
