Dillon Mayor Todd Davis has signed a proclamation designating Friday, December 6 as Arbor Day in the City of Dillon.
The Glove and Trowel Garden Club along with the City of Dillon, the Kiwanis Club and the Dillon Tree Committee will sponsor this year’s celebration.
Join them at Gordon Elementary School as they celebrate Arbor Day, December 6 at 8:30 a.m.
A wonderful event is planned using the guidelines of “Fourth Grade Foresters,” a program started in 2007 to encourage student to roll up their sleeves and plant a tree.
Each fourth grade student from Gordon and the Dillon Christian School (278 students) will be given a Loblolly Pine to take home to plant in their yard. Burt Rogers, City Certified Arborist, will be on hand to show the student the correct way to plant their trees and Lois Edwards, Pee Dee Urban Forester, will give an interesting program about trees and their importance to the environment.
Please make plans to attend this wonderful celebration.
