
The Wolverines took a 9-4 lead in the first quarter, but Lake View outscored East Clarendon 14-9 to tie things at 18-18 at the half. The Wolverines outscored Lake View 10-9 in the third for a one point lead at 28-27, and both teams added seven points in the fourth to allow East Clarendon the win.
Matthew Coaxum scored a game-high 14 points to lead East Clarendon. Burgess added nine points for the Wolverines; Smith, 7; M. Burgess, 3; and Rose, 3.
Lake View’s Dwayne Nichols and Chavis Smith each scored eight points to lead the Gators. Crishon Jordan scored six, Thomas Bullock added five and Reco Brown scored four, with Xavier Johnson earning two points and Jeremiah Cribb scoring one.
Lake View opens the regular season with an 0-1 record. The Wolverines are now 1-2.
The Gators were scheduled to travel to Loris on Wednesday, and will host Dillon this Friday at 6:00 p.m. On Monday, Lake View is set to host Loris, and on Tuesday, the Wild Gators will be at Aynor for their last game before Christmas break.
