The Herald has learned that Marion H. “Son” Kinon, retired S.C. Circuit Court Judge and noted Dillon County citizen, has died. He was 84 years old.
Kinon was the first judge from Dillon County to serve on the Circuit Court bench. He served from 1979-1989.
He also served at one time in the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Kinon served as a member of the House of Representatives from Dillon County from 1957 until 1960, from 1978 to 1979, and from 1989 until 1998.
He also was well known in the area for his service in the military. He attained the rank of Brigadier General in the South Carolina National Guard.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. prior to the service.
