Mary Evelyn Peacock, 81, died at home on Thursday, January 23, 2014.

Mrs. Peacock was born in Dillon County on March 5, 1932 a daughter of the late Sam Hatcher and Mary Vindell Hatcher. She was a homemaker and former employee of Burlington Industries. Mrs. Peacock was also a produce farmer for the Dillon area. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Golden Crowns Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Peacock was married for 61 years to the late James Linroe Peacock.

She is survived by by two sons, Leon Peacock (Patty) of Dillon and Jimmy Peacock (Rita) of Dillon; daughter, Ann Peacock McDaniel (Dennis) of Dillon; grandchildren, Kristi Peacock Collins (Nash), Kim Peacock Herron (Lee), Laura Peacock Sealey (Darren), Bryan McDaniel (Katie), and Jason McDaniel (Lane); and four great-grandchildren, Charlie Nash Collins, Kaden Herron, Grayson Herron, and Emerson Sealey; sisters, Elsie Osborn, Jean Hayes, Carolyn Bryant, and Mildred Daniels; a brother, George “Buddy” Hatcher.

Mrs. Peacock is preceded in death by a son, Jackie Peacock; and a grandson, Marshall Peacock; brothers, Hartley Hatcher, Doyle Hatcher, and Sam Hatcher, Jr.; sisters, Frances Barrineau and Gladys Gray.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday in Dillon First Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
