To The Editor:
February 4, 2014 will be a morning that will be with me for a very long time. I always let my little terrier go outside and do what he had to do, and he always came back in the house. So, on that morning, he did not come in. I began to wonder where in the world was he. Maybe he was playing around since he did that sometimes. I went to the door and called for him, but he never responded. I began to get shaky. I have MS, and I did all I could to not get scared and nervous. I went back in the house and got my walker and went back outside to find him. When I did, he was gone. I could not do anything but stand there and holler and just cry. The grandchildren had to have counseling. Something had gotten ahold of him and bit him in the side. He meant everything to me. He was my friend. When I have a flare up or did not feel well, he was there. He was with us for almost five years. We buried him in the flower garden. He loved to be with me and run through my flowers.
I do not want this printed for sympathy or pity. Maybe there is someone who had or will have a pet they love. I took him to the Christmas parade this last year. I had told him many times I would take him, and I did. He enjoyed it so much. If anyone has a pet that is dear to them, please keep a close eye on them when they have to use the restroom. I would hate for you to go outside and find yours the way I found mine. I have so many pictures of him in his bed, on our bed, all those toys. He was a member of the family. He will be remembered and never forgotten. His name was Thomas, the last name of my grandchildren. They named him.
