Gaye Rowswell Stricker, 69, the beloved wife of 48 years to the Rev. David Stricker, passed away March 8, 2014.
Gaye was born in Roswell, New Mexico to William and Alice Rowswell; she grew up in Pittsburgh where her grandfather “Rosey” was the announcer for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Gaye graduated from Bethel Park High School and Bowling Green University. She taught elementary school for 28 years as she traveled with her husband through his church and Army career, to include service as Vicar, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Dillon, SC from 2001 to 2007.
Gaye was preceded in death by her parents and son, Jeffrey Scott Stricker, of Pittsburgh. She is survived by her husband, David; daughters, Chris Rundlett (Chad) of New Hope, AL and Karen Manspeaker (Wes) of Beaufort, NC; five grandchildren, Noah of Pittsburgh, Macki, Sayler, Gunter, and Gavin of New Hope; and sister, Beth Walker (Sam) of Southern Pines, NC.
A Memorial service was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at a late date in Glendale Springs, NC.
