The Dillon Wildcats picked up wins over Mullins, Aynor, and Marion in recent varsity baseball action.

Dillon shut out Mullins 10-0 on Wednesday, March 19, earning five runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding four in the second and one in the fifth.

Omar McCollum got the win on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching all five innings with no hits, one walk, and eight outs. Mullins’ Atkinson took the loss, pitching four innings for nine hits, 10 runs, nine earned runs, two walks, and four outs.

At bat for Dillon, Weston Bailey went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs; Duncan Callahan went 1-for-1 with a double, a RBI, and two runs; Patrick Herring went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and a run; Ethan Hayes, Omar McCollum, and Jarvis Graves each went 1-for-2 with a run scored; Ryan Rouse went 1-for-1; Kaleb Page picked up a RBI; Gunnar Grossetti scored a run with a RBI; and Dekendrick Hayes scored a run.

Patrick Herring made eight put out sin the field and Ethan Hayes made five, and Kaleb Page made two assists.

On Friday, March 21, the Wildcats traveled to Aynor for a 9-4 win over the Blue Jackets.

Dillon picked up two runs in the top of the first inning and added three in the second and one in the third, sealing the win with three runs in the sixth. Aynor scored once in the bottom of the first and in the third and added two runs in the sixth.

Weston Bailey got the win on the mound, pitching six innings for seven hits, three walks, four runs, and two earned runs, striking out eight. Joseph Scott pitched an inning of relief for two hits and one out.

On the mound of Aynor, T. Lewis pitched five innings for 10 hits, three walks, seven earned runs, and five outs. G. Roberts pitched two innings for four hits, two walks, two earned runs, and three outs.

At bat for Dillon, Weston Bailey went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored; Duncan Callahan went 3-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored; Patrick Herring went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored; Ethan Hayes went 1-for-5; Omar McCollum went 2-for-3 with a RBI; Kaleb Page went 1-for-3 with a RBI; Gunnar Grossetti picked up a RBI; Jarvis Graves went 1-for-4 with one run scored; and Charles Sowells scored one run.

Aynor was led by B. Young, 2-for-3 with a RBI and one run, and N. Peeples, 2-for-5 with two runs. M. Ward had one hit for two RBI; G. Roberts singled with one run; and Q. Prosser singled with a RBI.

In the field for Dillon, Patrick Herring made nine put outs and Joseph Scott and Omar McCollum each made two assists.

On Tuesday, March 25, the Wildcats hosted the Marion Swamp Foxes for a 12-0 win in five innings.

Marion went three up, three out in the top of the first inning against pitching from Dillon’s Ethan Hayes. The Wildcats picked up seven runs in the bottom of the inning and added three in the third for a 10-0 lead. Hayes held Marion to just one hit in the second and one in the fourth, while the Wildcats added one run each in the bottom of the third and fourth to seal the 12-0 win. Marion’s Hunt reached on a walk in the top of the fifth and advanced to third but couldn’t cross home for the Swamp Foxes.

Hayes earned the win on the mound, facing 18 batters for three hits, one walk, and nine outs.

At bat for the Wildcats, Weston Bailey went 2-for-4; Duncan Callahan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored; Patrick Herring went 1-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored; Ethan Hayes went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored; Omar McCollum went 2-for-3 with with two RBI and two runs scored; Kaleb Page went 1-for-1 with a RBI and one run scored; Austin Moody went 2-for-2 with a RBI and one run scored; Jarvis Graves went 1-for-2 with a RBI and one run scored; Charles Sowells went 1-for-1; and Blake Deese went 1-for-1 with one run scored.

In the field Patrick Herring made nine put outs and Austin Moody added four. Weston Bailey made one put out and two assists, and Joseph Scott made one put out and one assist.

The Wildcats are now 7-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-2A.

Dillon was scheduled to travel to Darlington on Wednesday and Loris on Friday and will be back home on Tuesday, April 1.
