Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators earned a 13-3 win over the visiting Marion Swamp Foxes in five innings of softball action on Thursday, March 27.

Marion picked up one run in the top of the first inning, but Lake View picked up six runners in the bottom of the inning to take firm control of the game. The Lady Gators added four runs in the second and one in the third to lead 11-1. Marion managed to get two runs in the top of the fourth, but Lake View sealed the win with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.

Morgan Herlong picked up the win on the mound, pitching all five innings to allow eight hits and strike out seven batters. Pressley Spivey took the loss for Marion, pitching five innings for 14 hits, one walk, and four outs.

Herlong also helped lead the Gators at bat, going 4-for-4, with Ashley Rogers going 2-for-3 with two RBI and Kayce Wong going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Lake View improved to 7-3 overall with a 1-1 record in Region 8-A.

The Lady Gators will host local rival Latta tonight at 5:30 p.m. Make plans to attend for some great local softball action!
