
Latta opened the playoffs on Thursday with a 15-0 win over the Scott’s Branch Eagles. The Lady Vikings took a one run lead in the first inning and added 14 in the second to seal the win in four innings.
Anna Rogers picked up the win, pitching three no-hit innings for two walks and seven outs. Scott’s Branch’s Lee pitched two innings for the loss, allowing four runs and seven walks with one out.
At bat, Latta’s Macy Hyatt went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Dori Webster went 3-for-3 with four RBI. The Lady Vikings had 11 hits in the win.
On Friday, Latta traveled to Branchville for a 21-1 win over the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Latta brought in six runners in the top of the first inning to take an early lead and picked up two in the second, eight in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth to seal the win.
Branchville got their only run in the bottom of the fourth. The Yellow Jackets received a bye in the first round of playoffs, and managed only two hits against the Vikings.
Anna Rogers earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings for two hits and five walks, striking out 10. Branchville’s Funchess took the loss, pitching five innings for 23 hits and 21 runs.
Camryn Sawyer led the Lady Vikings at bat, going 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI. Kaleigh Caulder went 3-for-3 with one RBI; Kayla Hyatt went 2-for-2; Brooke Carter went 2-for-2; Genesis Anderson went 3-for-4; and Anna Rogers went 3-for-4.
The Lady Vikings improved to 17-5 overall with the wins and will advance to host the District V championship on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
Branchville was set to host Scott’s Branch on Monday night, with the winner facing Latta on Wednesday.
