The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has awarded Dillon native Jerry McCormick an Emmy.

The award was handed out at the 40th Annual Emmy Awards at the La Costa Resort and Spa in San Diego, Calif. on June 14th
McCormick is the son of the late Willie and Rosie Lee McCormick and is a 1986 graduate of Dillon High School.
McCormick won the award for “Special News Broadcast” for the coverage of the Boston Bombing for KNSD, the NBC owned and operated station in San Diego where he worked as a news producer. Jerry started at KNSD NBC San Diego in 2009 after working for the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper.
Currently, Jerry lives in Portland, Ore. and works as an Executive Producer for KOIN Local 6 News. Jerry is responsible for three hours of content for the station.
Jerry is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and taught part time at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.
