Jesse Lavon Polston, 78, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Carolina Hospital System, Florence. Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Florence National Cemetery.
Visitation was from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon.
Mr. Polston was born in Horry County, South Carolina, June 7, 1936, the son of the late Leary and Hattie Bell Ammons Polston. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired as a self-employed carpenter. He proudly served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by Gloria Florence Smith Polston of Florence, SC; sons, Stephen Lavon Polston (Kseniya) of Florence, SC and Harold James Polston of Osseo, WI; daughters, Tracy Ann P. Blake (Weston) of Bamberg, SC and Linda S. Jeffords Johnson (Lester) of Cope, SC; brother, Eugene Polston of Muskogee, OK; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Edna Bowman.
