Lacy Edward Sweatt, 75, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.at Latta Church of God with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon.
Mr. Sweatt was born in Dillon County, South Carolina, March 19, 1939, the son of the late Walter and Martha Berry Sweatt. He was a member of Latta Church of God. He retired from Dixiana Mills of Dillon. Mr. Sweatt is survived by his wife, Virginia Byrd Sweatt, of the home; son, Gregory Allen Sweatt; daughters, Sandra S. Elliott (Jimmy) of Latta, SC, Christy Byrd of Dillon, SC; step-sons, Elvis Byrd (Janet) of Johnsonville, SC, Dan Byrd (Wilma) of Latta, SC, Gary Byrd (Diane) of Latta, SC, Grady Byrd (Kathy) of Simpsonville, SC, Kenneth Byrd (Tammy) of Conway, SC, Timothy Byrd (Vickie) of Marion, SC; step-daughters, Vickie Lewis (Don) of Latta, SC, Mary Thompson of Lumberton, NC; brother,Johnny Sweat (Linda) of Kannapolis, NC; sisters, Lelia Kemp of Kannapolis, NC, and Addie Mae Caulder of Florence, SC; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a best friend Russell Turner. He was predeceased by ten siblings. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret L. Yarboro. Special thanks to Embrace Hospice for the care of Mr. Sweatt and the family.
