Dillon’s Lady Wildcats picked up wins over Marlboro County and South Robeson this week in girls varsity basketball action.
On Monday, the Wildcats traveled to Marlboro County to take on the Bulldogs for a 57-31 win.
Dillon took an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and lead 27-14 at the half. Marlboro rallied for a 19-14 third quarter to close the gap to 41-33, but the Lady Wildcats outpaced them 16-8 in the fourth to seal the win.
Khamele Maning and Kendra McLeod each added 13 points for the Wildcats in the win, with Manning picking up 13 rebounds and seven steals and McLeod making seven steals of her own. Da’Kerhia Samuel added 12 points and grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds for the Wildcats. Tejah Breeden added nine points in the win; Jelissa Fentzlaff, 4; Sowells, 3; McCollum, 2; and Yolanda Campbell, 1.
Marlboro was led by Bianca Covington with 14 points and Raquell Shaw with 12.
On Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats were back at home to host South Robeson for their second meeting of the season, claiming a 57-37 win over the Mustangs.
Dillon took a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Mustangs 12-11 in the second to lead 27-18 at halftime. South Robeson rallied for a 12-8 third quarter to narrow the Wildcat lead to just five points at 35-30. But Dillon dominated the fourth, adding 22 points while holding the Mustangs to just seven to seal the win by 20 points.
The Lady Wildcats were led by Tejah Breeden with 14 points and Khamele Manning with 12, and Da’Kerhia Samuel added 10 poitns with 18 rebounds. Kendra McLeod scored seven points; Shar’Asia Smauel, 5; McCullough, 4; Yolanda Campbell, 3; and Jelissa Fentzlaff, 2.
The Mustangs were led by Alerria Quick with a game-high 20 points. Drawhorn added seven; Rodgers, 6; McLeod, 2; Hall, 1; and White, 1.
The Lady Wildcats improved to 5-1 overall with the wins.
Dillon will be back in action this Monday, December 15, to host the Lake View Wild Gators, and on Tuesday, December 16, to host Marlboro County. Varsity game time is 6:00 p.m. so make plans to attend to support our local teams!
