Each year, the National Career Development Association sponsors a Poetry and Poster Contest for students in grades six through twelve. This year’s theme was “Celebrating First Jobs Through Encore Careers.” Students were encouraged to demonstrate that theme through their poetry or with artwork. The contest was designed to highlight the importance of life-long career development and the personal empowerment of all people. Local Winners will be sent to compete against those from other districts and may possibly be selected as a state winner or a national winner, if chosen.
The 49th Annual Career Development Poetry and Poster Contests of 2014 winners from Lake View High School are (L to R): Caleb Andrews, 6-8 Poster Winner; Avery Hatcher, 9-12 Poetry Winner; Michael Jiron, 9-12 Poster Runner-Up; and Sydell Gibbs, 9-12 Poster Winner.
