Sydney Hunter Townsend, 61, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 28, 2014. Her Memorial Service  will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Tuesday from 1:00 pm until time of the service.
Sydney was born February 24, 1953 in Bennettsville, South Carolina and grew up in Dillon. She was the daughter of the late James D. Townsend and Elizabeth Hunter Townsend. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was a graphic artist for advertising agencies and the Charleston News & Courier and later worked in retail sales.
She is survived by her daughter, Allison Orvin of Columbia, SC; her sister, Leah T. Martin (Jami) of Summerville, SC; her brothers, James Duncan Townsend, Jr. of Charleston, SC, and Alan Evans Townsend (Patty) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her nephew, Alan Evans Townsend, Jr., and niece, Anna Hollis Townsend.
