Dillon’s Lady Wildcats and both Latta Vikings basketball teams were ranked in the top 10 in the latest South Carolina Basketball Coaches polls.

In the girls Class 2A polls, the Wildcats were ranked second in the state behind region rival Mullins, who retained the top spot in the state. The Lady Wildcats are currently 12-2 overall while the Auctioneers are 12-1 heading into this weekend’s game.

Bishop England was ranked third, followed by Abbeville, Newberry, Pendleton, Edisto, Andrew Jackson and Buford. Columbia and Keenan were tied for tenth place.

In Class A, defending state champ Latta was ranked third in the state behind Christ Church and Carvers Bay. The Lady Vikings are currently 6-3 overall and got off to a 1-0 start in Region 8-A action. Latta and Carvers Bay will face off in region play on Tuesday, January 27.

St. Joseph’s was ranked fourth, and Hemingway, also in Region 8-A, was ranked fifth. Ridge Spring Monetta, Green Sea Floyds, Southside Christian, Allendale Fairfax, and Timmonsville rounded out the top 10.

In Class 3A, Lancaster was ranked first in the state, and in Class 4A, West Florence took the top spot.

In the boys’ polls, Latta was ranked eighth in Class A. The Vikings are 5-4 so far this season and 1-0 in Region 8-A. Latta was the only Region 8-A team to rank in the top 10.

Burke took the top spot in Class A, followed by Southside Christian, Lewisville, CA Johnson, and Branchville in the top five. Great Falls and Fox Creek were ranked sixth and seventh, and Calhoun County and Christ Church were ninth and tenth.

In Class 2A, Ridgeland-Hardeeville took the top spot, followed by Battery Creek, Cheraw, Lake Marion, and Keenan. Chesnee was sixth, and Timberland, Abbeville, Edisto, and Strom Thurmond rounded out the top 10.

In Class 3A, AC Flora was ranked first in the state, and Darlington was ranked fifth. In 4A, Wando took first place.
