The Dillon Wildcats traveled to Aynor on Tuesday night and earned a 62-38 win over the Blue Jackets in boys varsity basketball action.

The Wildcats took a 17-4 lead in the first and held a 33-13 lead at the half. Aynor rallied in the third, matching the Wildcats with 17 points each, but they couldn’t close the gap in the fourth.

Dillon’s Omar McCollum and JaQuan Knowlin each scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats and Darius Bethea added 10 points in the win. Joe Manning and Eri’Reon Hayes each scored eight; Avery McCall, 3; Raheem McClam, 2; and Gerome McLeod, 1.

For Aynor, Windham, Sanders, and Long each added seven points. Woodle scored six and Riddle added three, and C. Jenerette, Z. Jenerette, Culler, and Smith each added two points in the effort.

The Wildcats improved to 7-5 overall and opened conference play with a 1-0 in Region 8-2A. Aynor slipped to 6-1 overall and starts the region at 0-1.

Dillon is scheduled to host Mullins this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., and will be on the road next week to face Marion on Tuesday and Loris on Friday. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
