Officer Blake Legette brings vast military experience to his position at the City of Dillon Police Department.
Legette joined the City of Dillon Police Department on July 31st. He graduated from the SC Criminal Justice Academy on January 23rd.
Legette has ten years of military experience in the Army National Guard. The Staff Sergeant has had two tours of duty overseas in Afghanistan and Kuwait.
He chose a career in law enforcement because it was something he always wanted to do, and it gives him the “best of both worlds” – the military and law enforcement.
Legette is a resident of Latta and a 2004 graduate of Latta High School. He majored in sociology and criminal justice from Ashford University and is working towards his bachelor degree. He is a member of Weston Chapel AME Church.
Legette is the son of Pleasant Legette and Wallace Legette, and has a daughter, Layla Legette.
Legette said he likes working at the Dillon Police Department. He said they have made him feel welcome, comfortable, and at home, and he enjoys the cohesion of the department. He said officers with experience are helpful in helping the new officers’ progress.
Legette said he is always willing to learn and take on challenges.
Legette said he would like to thank Chief Joes Rogers, Captain David Lane, and Lt. Ryan Berry and the rest of the staff for the opportunity to serve, for welcoming him and for their support.
