The Latta Vikings tied with the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders this week and took down the Green Sea-Floyds Trojans 16-1 on Friday.

The Vikings traveled to Hannah-Pamplico on Thursday, tying the Raiders 3-3 in six innings.

The Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, with W. Bazen singling, stealing second, and advancing to third on an error. Bazen scored on a grounder from V. Cooper to give the Raiders the lead.

Latta picked up three runs in the top of the second, with John Kever Love getting hit by a pitch and Cledus Williams reaching on a walk. Dalton Lane hit into a fielder’s choice, and a walk from Caleb Mishue cored Love. Austin Miller drew a walk to score Williams, and a walk for McGirt scored Lane to give Latta a 3-1 lead.

The Vikings held off the Raiders through the next few innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, Hannah-Pamplico picked up two runs with E. Tanner reaching on a hit by pitch, advanced on an error and a grounder, and scored on an error that allowed C. Mays to reach first. Mays advanced on a grounder and scored on a single from Cooper.

Caleb Mishue pitched four innings for the Vikings, allowing two hits, two runs, and three walks with one out, and Colby Lee pitched two innings for one hit, one run, and two outs. Hannah-Pamplico’s Cooper pitched 4.2 innings for two hits and seven outs, and W. Tanquay pitched 1.1 innings for three runs, three earned runs, four walks, and one out.

At bat for the Vikings, Love went 2-for-2 with a double and one run scored. Cledus Williams and Dalton Lane each scored one run, and Caleb Mishue and Austin Miller each scored one RBI.

For the Raiders, Cooper went 1-for-2 with two RBI; Bazen went 1-for-3 with one run; B. Williamson went 1-for-3; Mays picked up one run and one RBI; and Tanner scored one run.

On Friday, the Vikings got off to a 2-0 lead over the Green Sea-Floyds Trojans at home in Latta. Lee drew a walk and stole second, scoring on an error that allowed Jackson Williams to reach first. Love was hit by a pitch to reach first, and Eric McGirt singled to advance the runners and score Williams.

In the top of the third, Green Sea’s J. Springs was hit by pitch to reach base and advanced on a walk from A. Caines. A sacrifice bunt from S. Jordan advanced Springs to third, and Springs scored on a grounder from Strickland to leave the Trojans trailing 2-1 at the end of three.

But the Vikings broke loose for 14 runs in the bottom of the fourth to seal the win. Lane doubled, Miller drew a walk, and McLeod Carmichael, Noah Moody, and Lee each singled to score runners. Cledus Williams reached on a hit by pitch, Jackson Williams singled, and Love reached on an error, and McGirt doubled to bring in more runners. On their second trip to bat in the inning, Lane singled and Miller reached on a walk, Carmichael singled and Moody reached on an error. Lee flew out for the first out in the inning, and Cledus Williams reached on a hit by pitch. Jackson Williams walked, and Love reached on an error before McGirt struck out and Lane ground out to end the scoring onslaught.

Colby Lee got the win on the mound, pitching five innings for one hit, one run, one earned run, one walk, and eight outs. Green Sea’s AJ Strickland pitched three innings for 10 hits, 14 runs, three walks, and one out to take the loss. M. Graham pitched one inning for two runs, one walk, and one out.

At bat for the Vikings, Jackson Williams went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs; Eric McGirt went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and one run scored; Dalton Lane went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, and two runs; McLeod Carmichael went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored; Noah Moody went 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs; Colby Lee went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs; John Kever Love picked up three RBI and one run; Austin Miller scored two runs; and Cledus Williams and Jonathan Ray each scored a run. Latta had 10 hits and one error in the win.

For Green Sea-Floyds, Milligan went 1-for-2 for the Trojans’ only hit, and AJ Strickland picked up one RBI with Springs scoring one run. The Trojans had four errors in the effort.

Latta is now 3-2-1 in the regular season and 1-0 in Region 8-A.

The Vikings was scheduled to host Carvers Bay on Tuesday and will be at Carvers Bay on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
