Services for Martha Herring Thornton will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thornton, 87, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her residence.
Born in Dillon County, SC, March 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Zerno and Letha McNeil.  She was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include her son, Jackie Herring of Dillon; grandchildren, Angel (James) Britt, Jamie Herring, Jackie Wayne Herring, and Diamond Herring; great-grandchildren, Wren Hardwick, Alan Britt, and Hope Herring; great-great-grandchildren, Butterball, and several others; sisters, Naomi (Glenn) McInnis of Dillon, Joann (J.W.) Price of Hamer, Mickey (Paul) of Hope Mills, NC, and twin sister, Mary Taylor of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thonrton was preceded in death by her husbands, Rufus Herring, and Virgil Thornton.
