Dear Editor:
I have lived in Dillon County for 56 years as a pastor and family. Today I am proudly writing to commend those who have been instrumental in bringing the Wyman-Gordon industry to our County.  This is an impressive accomplishment.
The training for jobs at this plant will take place in Dillon County, also.  We do not need to farm out our jobs or our training to other counties.  We are capable of taking care of ourselves.  Our thanks should be expressed to the Economic Development Board for their diligent and hard work.  Rep. Jackie Hayes has secured funding for it and for the equipment necessary to train for Wyman-Gordon jobs.  The County Council has given a friendly welcome to this industry with incentives for their location here.  Chairman Richard Schafer and the School Board have agreed to supervise the training.  Dillon County is beginning to make a strong name for itself as a progressive area in which to work and live.
Every young person in the County should pursue a high school education which is required for skilled jobs.  Each one must pay the price of diligent study, finish the course, and then reap the rewards of a good career the rest of his/her life.  In addition to high school specific training will be required and will be offered at Northeastern Technical College in Dillon County.    Gratitude is given for the spirit of cooperation among all involved in giving our County this great economic opportunity.
Sincerely,
Richard C. Alderman, Pastor
