The Lake View football stadium was rededicated to W. Jesse Ford on Friday night and the football field was dedicated to coaching legend in Lake View, Jewell McLaurin.
A special ceremony was held at half-time to commemorate the occasion.
The late W. Jesse Ford was honored for his contribution of the land on which our current field is located.  Dillon School District Four and Lake View High School, in honor of Mr. Ford, re-dedicated the Lake View Athletic Complex to the Ford Family.  At the main gate, there was new signage naming the complex the W. Jesse Ford Athletic Complex.
Representing the Ford family was his son, Bill Ford, and daughter, Isla Ford Graham. The received an honorary plaque.
Lake View High School appreciates the contributions of the Ford family.
Coach McLaurin coached football at Lake View High School for 40 years. He was an assistant coach from 1971 to 1982 under Coach Bill Pate. During his years as assistant coach he had 143 wins and 39 loses, 11 conference titles and 2 State Championships.
Coach McLaurin served as head football coach for 25 years, from 1983 to 2007. During his years as head football coach he had 259 wins and 68 loses, 18 conference championships, 8 Lower State Titles, 4 State Championships.
His total football record as an assistant and head coach at Lake View High School was 402 wins and 107 loses.
During the school year of 1981 – 1982 Lake View High won the State Basketball Championship with Coach McLaurin as the head basketball coach.
Coach Jewell McLaurin would like to thank the many outstanding assistant football coaches at Lake View. He would like to recognize 4 assistant coaches that have coached 10 years or more at the varsity level:
-Coach Ken Rogers, 1976 – 2008. Coach Rogers has coached the Lake View varsity lineman for 30 years and 5 state championships, and he has been a big reason for the success at Lake View.
-Coach Curtis Middleton, 1989 – 1998. Coached in 4 state championships.
-Daryl King, 1999 – 2015. Coach King has had 1 state championship as a player and 1 state championship as an assistant coach.
– Jonathan Robinson, 1990 – 2015. Three state championships as an assistant coach.
Coach Jewell McLaurin would like to recognize football manager, Mostiler Rogers for 38 years of service to the Lake View football team.
Coach McLaurin would like to thank the Lake View fans, “Who are the best,” and the school administrators and trustees for their support over the years.
Last but not least, Coach  McLaurin would like to thank the Lake View football players for their dedication and toughness, which has made Lake View one of the top football programs in the state.
Prior to the game, the Lake View Academic Challenge team members were presented with their championship rings.
