The Dillon High School Marching Cats concluded the 2015 competition season by participating in the 2015 South Carolina Band Director Association’s (SCBDA) 2A Lower State Marching Band Championship on Saturday, October 24.
The event was hosted by West Ashley High School in Charleston, SC.
The band’s performance was well received by all in attendance and received several compliments from various band directors and spectators throughout the day. The students earned an excellent rating and ranked 11th out of 17 bands in attendance, missing the cutoff for state finals by 4 points.
Even though they did not make the final cut, due to the students hard work they are currently on course to earn the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award (OPA) which is awarded to band programs that excel in Marching Band Assessment, Region and All-State Honor Band, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Concert Band Assessment. Mr. Adrian Wright is band director and Mr. Kevin McLellan is assistant band director.
