FLORENCE—Blannie Laverne Huggins, 89, died November 29, 2015 at Carolina Hospital System in Florence. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon with internment in Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Adrienne Anderson officiating. Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon.
Mr. Huggins was born in Timmonsville, SC, on October 25, 1926, the son of the late Blannie H. and Ella Brown Huggins. Laverne was a Mason and a member of the Oacacie Lodge #169, Little Pee Dee Shriners, Mackey Lodge #77, and American Legion. He was a member of Fork Presbyterian Church and served in the United States Army during World War II. Laverne was employed by Dixiana Mills and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Stanton Huggins of Florence; son, Stephen Huggins (Elinta) of Mullins, SC; daughters, Diane Huggins of West Columbia, SC and Janice Taylor (Byron) of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Jason Bullard, Phillip Huggins, and Megan Huggins; great-grandchildren, Jamison, Brianna, and Layla; and brother, Harold Huggins of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his daughter, Connie Huggins and brother, Henry Allen Huggins.
